lyrics
Our story begins with a dog sniffing bins and a rat at the side of the road
I stop when I see his little ribcage expanding and contracting
He's still breathing
Left back leg all twisted back
Poor little dude is going nowhere
I remember a time when I was a kid
The cats brought in a half dead mouse
I felt so sorry for what they did
But I knew it must go out of the house
I could see it suffering
air still twitching in through its nose
the tiny paws like hands in a pose of submission and rest
as I laid it out on the back door step
the wet concrete
it was raining quite heavy
wet and damp
I covered him with a bucket or an old plastic paint tub
to keep the rain off and went back inside
but I kept thinking of him
I don't know when he actually died
or how
but I remember now
how I couldn't get over it
and couldn't stop crying
that night
so that my mother came in
comforting me and trying to find out what's wrong
when I told her it was about the mouse she said I shouldn't worry about things like that
and I should never stay crying alone
maybe it was because he was
so similar to our hamster
it's like the difference between flowers and weeds
I just never got it as a child
I still think it sucks
I mean what if you are just born as someone else's vermin
This is an album I made in collaboration over the internet with two fine musicians back home in Dublin Ireland. There is a very interesting mix of styles, tones and rhythms. Dan Ball
The four tracks on this EP by Brazil’s Jadsa are instantly gripping, taking the melodies of MPB & setting them against an ambient backdrop. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 9, 2020
