about
This music is a part of a larger exhibition by several artists working in various media, including photography, film, printmaking and collage. Entitled 'Migration/이주,' the exhibition can be seen and heard at Hwamyeong Train Station, Busan, South Korea from July 23rd to August 13th, 2011.

I have composed 'Migrating Melodies' as a set of playful pieces of music for computer. This music releases feelings I've had in moving through my own stages of migration. I have tried to structure it in a way that celebrates diversity and change, but also explores how identity can dissolve or come together in new contexts. I went to concerts of western classical music performed by orchestras of Korean people in Korea around the same time that I was learning how to use some digital orchestral instruments. These experiences both made we think 'what a fascinationg and vast amount of cultural and historical connections were needed to bring this sound to my ears.'
